Need a Smile

So things aren’t going quite the way I had planned today. The biggest bump in the road being that our water was shut off today, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. I was in the middle of scrubbing the shower clean, washing laundry, and our sink is full of dirty dishes. Not to mention, I hear “Mom, Aubrey stuck her hands in the toilet!” I rushed to grab her out of the bathroom to find that not only had she stuck her hands in the toilet but that the toilet was being used at the same time! (We’ll just leave it at that…) So I rush her to the sink to thoroughly wash her hands and there is no water, not even a drop. I blame Josh (of course) because moments earlier he told me he had turned off the toilet water because it was making “rushing sounds”, so possibly he turned off the sink as well. I rush to the other bathroom. No water. The kitchen. No water. The faucet outside. No water. That’s when it dawns on me that all of our water is shut off. AHH! I NEED WATER!!! So, I wipe Aubrey’s hands with a wet wipe, sanitize with hand sanitizer, and wash with drinking water from our food storage. Then, I apologize to Josh for blaming him, explain why I thought he did it, and again apologize for yelling at him about something he didn’t do.

Great day, right?! So, I guess I’ll work on something else while Aaron tries to find out why we have no water (and yes, we’ve paid our bill). Meanwhile, I needed to take a break to share with you some of the things that have made me smile over the last couple of days.

Cute, huh? Doesn’t that just make you smile? Well, I think I hear the water back on now in the bathroom. So, I’ll get back to work. Have a great day!

P.S. I went to turn off the sink in the bathroom and found that the toilet tank was over flowing and the bathroom floor was flooded. Yeah, I now know what Josh meant by “rushing sounds” coming from the toilet. What a great day, huh?

Fourth of July Fun

I hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day weekend. Ours was great! It started with our ward church activity, which we were in charge of. We set-up decorations Thursday night.

(Our “church-approved” firecrackers, LOL!)

The party was Friday night. We grilled hot dogs and everyone brought their favorite side-dishes. There were a few games and popsicles at the end. It was a lot of fun, but I was crazy busy the entire time.  I hate that I’m so busy at all of the activities that I can’t really enjoy them, let alone invited friends to join us. Someday…

Then, Saturday, Aaron had to work at Pasadena’s 4th fest. He originally thought it was like a health fair, but that was just his clinic’s both. It was a fun (and totally FREE) festival put on by the city of Pasadena. Here are a few pics of the fun things we enjoyed (and Aaron in a bear suit). It was so much fun and we came home with a fun bag of goodies full of beach balls, plastic bead necklaces, paper fans, and funky sunglasses. We will definitely do it again next year (of course Aaron will probably have to be there anyway…).

Sunday, we enjoyed our freedom to worship freely and went to church.  Sacrament meeting was a testimony meeting and many of our friends who are originally from other countries shared how they are thankful to now be Americans. It really made me appreciate the safety and freedoms we have in this country. We are all truly blessed to live in America.

We finished out our day by enjoying our neighbors’ fireworks.  :) In all the hub-bub of the week we forgot to buy any fireworks to do. However, the people in our neighborhood LOVE doing fireworks and you can just sit outside and see fireworks everywhere. We joined our next door neighbors as they shared theirs, but we all quickly realized that the neighbors across the street knew how to celebrate. They had an amazing supply and must of spent literally thousands of dollars on their fireworks. I can't even begin to describe some of the ones we saw, other than it was top-notch stuff. We decided we’ll just sit out in our front yard next year as we watch the neighbors duel it out! :) It was so much fun and we really enjoyed all of our weekend. I hope you had a great holiday weekend as well!
